The Find and Protect Foster Youth Act (S. 1146) would provide states with guidance along with technical and educational resources to help them improve their ability to identify and locate youth who have run away from or otherwise gone missing from foster care. The bill would require a federal review of the protocol’s states have in place to locate missing foster youth and identify best practices.

“We need to ensure that IV-B funding is meeting the needs of children and families who are interacting with the child welfare system, including children and families who are in foster care, or to support broader services like child protective services and pre-foster care family stabilization or support.  That’s why I am excited that this legislation includes a $75 million overall increase in funding, which is critical given that IV-B hasn’t seen an increase in nearly twenty years." 

Bipartisan Congressional Caucus on Foster Youth Announces Leadership in the 118^th Congress

Today, the Bipartisan Congressional Caucus on Foster Youth (CCFY) announced the new co-chairs serving in the 118^th Congress:

“Any time a foster youth falls through the cracks, the government is really the one responsible,” Rep. Bass said. “When we remove children from their parents, it’s the government that becomes the parents. What can we do better? What are the tangible solutions? That’s what this event is about. We had young people from all over the country speaking to over Members of Congress from all over the country. Especially in a time marred by partisanship, what can bring this country together are our young people. We can come together and work to raise foster youth voices.”
