Co-Chair Joint Statement in Recognition of National Foster Care Month

Congressional Caucus on Foster Youth Issues Co-Chair Joint Statement in Recognition of National Foster Care Month
"May marks a special time of year, where we aim to raise awareness about the needs of the more than 400,000 young people in the foster care system, and to celebrate the thousands of dedicated foster families, social workers, service providers, and care professionals who may serve them. The pandemic exacerbated many of the deficiencies in the foster care system, making it more important than ever to reaffirm our resolve to improve the lives of foster youth. When a child is placed in care, they become our responsibility. We must care for those just entering the system, as well as young adults aging out, who find themselves at a much higher risk of unemployment, homelessness, and incarceration. It is our duty to help our young people. Join us in our fight to support foster youth across the nation."
